Amanda Brugel

Brugel was the only Canadian cast member during the Season 1 of the show and was not seen much. Then, in Season 2, she began to be a regular part of the cast and remains a part of it to this day. As she discussed her role as well as the parallels to her daily life, she could connect to issues of racism and discrimination she's faced throughout her life. She explained: "I lean heavily on race. As I said, I've been through situations in which I felt like I was treated like the slave because I'm African-American." The race I'm from has never caused me to suffer physical injuries throughout my life, however my experience with verbal abuse has been experienced. In the series I'll employ any variety of racial slurs or racist epithets which have made me feel like someone has hit me. This feeling is used nearly every time because I can feel as if she's been punched with a punch in virtually all of the scenes." Amanda Amanda Amanda
